Hey, did you hear about the Elle Women in Hollywood event that happened on Tuesday? It's so cool that they celebrated the creative and cultural contributions of America Ferrera, Danielle Brooks, Eva Longoria, Fantasia Barrino Taylor, Greta Lee, Jennifer Lopez, Jodie Foster, Lily Gladstone, and Taraji P. Henson. It's always nice to see such talented women being recognized for their hard work and dedication.

"I may not have won an Oscar, Golden Globe, Grammy, SAG Award, BAFTA, Critics Choice, or Hollywood Film Award, but what I do have is a Palm Springs International Film Festival Spotlight Award. And as I stand here accepting my fifth Icon Award, I can't help but reflect on how far I've come. As a little girl, I never imagined I would be considered an icon. But I'm here to tell you that with hard work, dedication, and perseverance, anything is possible. So keep dreaming big and never give up on yourself."

She talked about how society puts people into boxes and labels them as one thing or another, and how it's unfair. She mentioned how people often believe that if you're a musician, you can't also be an actor. Or if you're a business person, you can't also be an artist. And if you're beautiful, you can't also be intelligent, and so on. She then went on to say that she has always believed that you can do all the things and be good at all of them. She thanked everyone for recognizing her as one of their own and for seeing her for who she is. It was such a powerful and inspiring speech!

Earthquake of 7.5 strikes Philippines, tsunami warnings in Philippines and Japan

                                                                             An earthquake of at least magnitude 7.5 struck Mindanao in the southern Philippines late on Saturday, triggering evacuation orders for some areas of the country and for southwest Japanese coasts because of warnings of tsunami waves of 1 meter (3 feet) or more                                                                                      The Philippine Seismology Agency Phivolcs said the waves could hit the Philippines by midnight (1600 GMT) and continue for hours, though there were no initial reports of significant wave damage by that time. The U.S. Tsunami Warning System said there could be waves of up to 3 meters above the usual high tide level along some Philippine coasts, though it subsequently said there was no risk of a tsunami. "Based on all available data ... the tsunami threat from this earthquake has now passed," it said.
